Audio priorities!

Hey guys, it's been a while. Everything has been super hectic because our "Spatha" game (the Roman turn-by-turn strategy game) has been rescoped and the game is due in two weeks. It's been a mad scramble to get everything done because we started with really poor management and design prep. We are getting there though so let's hope the game all comes together nicely. Alright so an update.

This week we finally got onto creating the audio asset list we needed weeks ago. Unfortunately because of how late it is in production, most of the assets that were going to be custom created by an audio student not in our class, can't be. So I've scoped his tasks back to a main menu track and a battle arena track which is pushing it. I'm left with task now to source copyright-free audio and modify it to make it sound like we want it too. The first track I remixed was for our weapon upgrade success.

So I found "Hero (sting)" on the YouTube audio library, then grabbed a crowd cheer track too and some human grunts. Then I went to SoundJay.com and sourced a pair of pliers opening and pot lids being put on pots.

I then added reverb and EQ to the pot lids and pliers and lowered the pitch of the grunts. I then tweeked the volume and set the priority of different sounds over the course of the sting. The short track is yet to be uploaded but will be later with the original links to all the sounds used to show the contrast.

One sound effect down. 15+ to go.
